Aligning opportunity with outcomes.

The Access Labs Initiative's rigorous 15-week software engineering program is designed to be a catapult of economic mobility, creating opportunities for passionate and motivated students who otherwise couldn’t afford to enroll, access to outcomes-oriented education.

No upfront Tuition

Open only to students earning less than $35,000 annually, Access Labs Initiative requires no upfront deposit or tuition payment.  (See tuition details).

CURATED Community

Our classes are carefully crafted to bring the best out of students. You’ll learn alongside other talented students who’ll challenge your approach and give you a competitive edge.

Our 15-week modular program is the most robust you’ll find, giving students the skills needed to go from code newbies to in-demand software engineers.

INVESTED Instructors

Knowing how to code doesn’t mean you know how to teach. With experience in the field and the classroom, our instructors are unparalleled. Access Labs students learn from the best.

Become an in-demand software engineer

Being a software engineer requires more than knowing how to code or build a web app. Utilizing the proven curriculum and 15-week modular program structure developed for Flatiron School's Software Engineering Immersive, students learn to think, and build, like software engineers – from developing coding mastery to gaining an understanding of how products are designed and managed.

Programming Fundamentals

After diving into HTML5 & CSS, students get comfortable with object-oriented programming, learning to read websites with Ruby and save data to a database with SQL and Object Relational Mappers.

Web Frameworks

Students learn two key Ruby frameworks, first mastering the fundamentals of web programming with Sinatra before experiencing how quickly they can build incredible apps with Rails.

Students gain a thorough understanding of JavaScript and functional programming — crucial for front-end devs — and start to build their own version of React before moving onto the framework itself.

Front-End Frameworks

Students learn to build productive, scalable front-ends with React and Redux, creating slick, functional, reactive code with Redux as a state manager and Rails as the back-end JSON API.

Build your portfolio

At Access Labs Initiative, students don’t just ship code; they become developers. Students build advanced Portfolio Projects to demonstrate their technical skills and creativity and immerse themselves in the technical community by maintaining technical blogs, establishing robust Github repositories, and presenting at Meetups.

Rigorous application process

We don’t just admit individual students to our program; we curate a community, cultivating a diversity of thought and experience. The Access Labs Initiative is designed for students who demonstrate the grit and passion necessary to successfully launch a new career.

    1. Apply

Submit a written application. Tell us about yourself and why you’re interested in the opportunity to transform your career.

This is an opportunity for us to get to know each other a little better. We look for strong applicants to demonstrate their passion and determination to complete the program.

    3. Technical Review

After writing and submitting a sample coding challenge on the platform, you’ll join a live coding session with an instructor to discuss it and see how it can be improved.
